From Midlife Wake-Up Call to Living Stronger: Jason’s Journey at Fort Worth
Stronger at 50: How Jason Took Control of His Health
For Jason, turning 50 became more than just another birthday.
It became a wake-up call.
“I was approaching 50 and was having a midlife crisis, thinking about my mortality, and wanted to make lifestyle changes to feel better about getting older.”
Like many men entering a new stage of life, he realized that feeling better wasn’t going to happen by accident. His goal wasn’t complicated:
Lose weight. Feel better. Build a healthier future.
That decision led him to personal training at Fort Worth Strong with Coach Kyle, where consistency and accountability would become the foundation for lasting change.

Starting Point
Before joining Fort Worth Strong, Jason’s health had slowly drifted in the wrong direction.
His weight had climbed above 250 pounds, and everyday movement wasn’t as easy as it once had been.
One of the biggest frustrations was his back.
“I was having constant lower back pain, to the point where it was sometimes difficult to get through a round of golf.”
As someone who loves the game, golf became an unexpected reminder that his body wasn’t keeping up with the life he wanted to live.
Rather than accepting that as part of getting older, he decided it was time to make a change.
What We Focused On
From the beginning, the program centered around improving movement quality, not just getting stronger.
For someone who spends much of the day sitting at a desk, mobility quickly became one of the biggest priorities.
“The focus on mobility has been a huge help for someone who sits at a desk most days.”
Coach Kyle also brought something Jason knew he couldn’t provide himself: accountability.
“I appreciate the encouragement and accountability Kyle provides. He’s very good at calling me out on my BS…in a nice way…mostly!”
The combination of personalized programming, honest coaching, and consistent encouragement helped Jason build habits that finally stuck.

Building Consistency
The biggest change wasn’t a specific exercise.
It was showing up.
Three days each week became non-negotiable.
“The consistency of going three times a week. I actually look forward to it now.”
What once felt like another obligation gradually became part of his routine.
That consistency created momentum, and momentum produced results.
The Results
Today, Jason moves differently.
He feels stronger.
He’s more mobile.
And he can enjoy golf again.
“My mobility and strength are much better. I can get through a round of golf without lower back pain and have gained distance and speed.”
Those improvements aren’t just about golf.
They’re evidence that his body is functioning better in everyday life.
Combined with weight loss and increased strength, Jason says he simply feels better than when he first walked into the gym.
For many adults looking for strength training in Fort Worth, that’s the ultimate goal. Not just adding years to life, but adding more life to those years.

Learning That Health Doesn’t End at the Gym
One of Jason’s biggest realizations came after he had already started making progress.
“Realizing that I’m not 25 anymore and understanding that living a healthy lifestyle is not just going to the gym three times a week.”
Like many clients, he discovered that lasting health extends beyond workouts.
Nutrition, daily activity, recovery, and lifestyle choices all play a role.
He admits it’s still something he’s working on.
“I still struggle to incorporate a better diet and consistent activity outside of the gym.”
Rather than viewing that as failure, he sees it as part of the ongoing process of becoming healthier.

The Community Difference
Before Fort Worth Strong, Jason tried doing it on his own.
Like many people, he invested in home fitness equipment hoping motivation alone would be enough.
“I was convinced for years that I could get healthy again on my own at home. Peloton, Bowflex, and Hydrow all appreciated my enthusiasm…”
But eventually he realized what had been missing.
Accountability.
Community.
Coaching.
“Without the community and environment, I would probably be way worse off.”
He credits Fort Worth Strong with pushing him beyond what he thought was possible.
“Having Fort Worth Strong in my life has pushed me to do things I never would have ever considered doing before.”
Advice for Someone Thinking About Starting
Jason’s advice is refreshingly honest.
“Just do it. It will probably be the best decision of your life.”
He also believes people need realistic expectations.
Personal training isn’t about hearing only what you want to hear.
“The trainer is there to help you and do their job. You might not always hear what you want to, and some of what you hear might hurt the ego a little!”
But that’s exactly where growth happens.
“Keep moving and get better…you will thank yourself later.”
