Consistency Changed Everything: Justin’s Strength & Momentum Reset

Justin has been training at Fort Worth Strong since 2020, with a clear foundation of goals: build muscle, improve strength, stay mobile, and rehabilitate his lower back after injury.

Over the years, he made steady progress. But like many busy professionals and parents, consistency is and ongoing challenge.

Between a demanding work schedule and recurring back issues, his routine became unpredictable. He would train for a few weeks, build momentum, then fall off again.

That cycle started to take a toll.

Everything changed when he committed to a structured plan and rebuilt his schedule around training.

Starting Point

We’ve been fortunate to work with Justin for the last several years. He didn’t struggle with knowing what to do, he struggled with staying consistent.

“2025 started off as a real challenge for me. Between a hectic work schedule and recurring back issues, staying consistent in the gym felt impossible.”

Like many people looking for personal training in Fort Worth, the issue isn;t effort, it is sustainability.

“I’d go for a few weeks, make progress and then fall off again. That cycle became frustrating. It was affecting my energy, confidence and overall wellbeing.”

What we focused on

The turning point came with a simple but critical shift: conversation with his coach and a new commitment to a schedule.

“Everything changed in late September when Kyle texted me and said, ‘we have to figure something out with your consistency.”

Instead of trying to fit workouts in randomly, Justin committed to specific training days each week.

From there, the focus became:

  • Redefining goals and success
  • Creating a repeatable routine and prioritizing his mornings at the gym
  • Maintaining mobility and protecting the lumbar spine

Coach Kyle explains the workout structure:

“We’ve been emphasizing a lot on single leg strength through split squats, lunges, and deadlift’s. As well as upper body strength and endurance through high volume push-ups and heavy dumbbell pressing variations.”

Justin also elevated his approach outside of the workouts.

He began showing up early and moving intentionally through mobility work before each session.

That shift from reactive training to intentional preparation is playing a major role in his progress.

The Results

With consistency in place, everything else started to improve.

“Since then, I train with him 3 to 4 days/week every week! I’ve started showing up differently not just physically but mentally.”

Justin is now:

  • Training consistently week after week
  • Losing body fat while gaining muscle
  • Stronger, more energized, and balanced
  • Building momentum that carries into other areas of life

“I look forward to my workouts and feel 100 times better than I did at the start of the year.”

For many people pursuing strength training in Fort Worth, this is a piece of the transformation, not just physical change, but building consistency and momentum towards a stronger future.

Looking ahead: Training for longevity

With a strong foundation in place, the focus is shifting toward long-term performance and health.

“After a strong start to the year, we are going to be seeing more emphasis on longevity through tests of grip strength, cardiovascular fitness, lower and upper body strength, muscle endurance, and relative strength.” -Coach Kyle

This phase is about building a well-rounded, durable body that can perform at a high level for years to come.
